Creative Arts Camp

About this camp

This camp represents ETSU’s ongoing commitment to recruit talented students within the arts whose participation enriches not only our campus but the community. We seek to showcase our amazing campus and the ability to be a part of our family and use your talents to access world class facilities and teaching. Founded in 1911, we are a major leading research university with over 14,100 students located in Johnson City, Tennessee. We have observed over the years the amazing talent we see coming out of sub-Saharan Africa specifically Zimbabwe. The culture is rich, the people are warm, the talent is second to none and the standards of achievement unmentionable. This is why together with our Zimbabwean partner PathwayHub Zimbabwe Trust we are not only opening the door for Zimbabwean students to showcase their talent here at ETSU but to experience what it is to study not just in America but in a reputable state of art institution. We have an abundant array of programs one can choose from. What’ more, your talent can open the door for a creative scholarship that is awarded regardless your degree path. So you could be studying nursing and still be very eligible to receive a creative arts scholarships by simply availing your talent.

Meet Hulio Draws - Nyasha Warambwa

Nyasha Warambwa famously known as Hulio Draws is a part of the ETSU family. Hulio Draws spent his gap year working with our Zimbabwean partner, PathwayHub to establish an incredible portfolio, outlook on his arts and as such he was awarded the Creative Arts Scholarship by ETSU. We are not only pleased to have such a young accomplished artist at ETSU, but the fact that we have Hulio Draws choose us as a place to grow makes us prouder. At nineteen years Hulio draws debuted the artwork on the 2021 Chris Brown Album as well as his art being featured on New York Time Square and more.

“I am a 19 year old digital artist/illustrator from Harare, Zimbabwe. I learnt at Gateway High School and my passion for art and creating led me to follow this path of design. I’d certainly encourage any young Zimbabwean looking for an opportunity to explore the arts, use it as a stepping stone towards your goals to sign up for the camp. I will be awaiting to greet you and show you how my world is looking here in the USA at ETSU. Sign up you wont regret it.”
